Mel's Mats in Hazelwood

Mel's Mats in Hazelwood

The last post featured Mel's Mats made with scraps. Today I am going to share some placemats made with a precut strip pack by one of our favorite sewists, Juli Kieny! We paired a jelly roll of an adorable fabric line from One Canoe Two (one of my favorite designers!) with two woven solids for the background. Juli made up 4 placemats and we love how they turned out!

Introducing Mel's Mats!

We have been making these woven placemats for years as housewarming gifts, children's room decorations and table toppers! We finally turned these into Mel's Mats, a precut or scrap friendly placemat and table runner pattern. These placemats aren't only functional, but will brighten your table!
Canyon Boulevard in Ink & Arrow Fabrics

Canyon Boulevard in Ink & Arrow Fabrics

Occasionally fabulous fabric companies ask us to make a project featuring their new fabric lines. I love looking at fabric, then sorting through our patterns to find the perfect pairing! Ink & Arrow Fabrics sent us a box full of goodies. We sorted through it and picked out 8 fun prints on white backgrounds and a seafoam dot blender to make our Canyon Boulevard quilt pattern.
One Way in Black & Whites

One Way in Black & Whites

We made a couple different versions of our One Way quilt. I dug into my stash of black and white prints to make this quilt and added a pop with one solid wasabi arrow! Everything about this quilt from the quilting to the binding makes me smile!
Mini Quilts in Dear Stella Fabrics

Mini Quilts in Dear Stella Fabrics

For Quilt Market in Houston, we teamed up with Dear Stella to introduce our new mini quilt patterns in a Schoolhouse presentation. We made each of the six new patterns in some of the newest lines. Dear Stella fabrics are amazing to work with! Their lines are typically feminine and full of unique and striking color combinations.
Introducing Mini Churndash Court

Introducing Mini Churndash Court

Mini Churndash Court pattern has been a long time coming. I made a mini version of our original Churndash Court years ago during my two-week churndash obsession state. I had just been introduced to the idea of mini quilts and couldn't get the idea of a mini churndash out of my head! So, I created this rainbow version with a white churndash.
Lantern Lane Color Option

Lantern Lane Color Option

We always make each quilt pattern at least twice. This was the second version of Lantern Lane we made. Nine warm solids ranging from yellow to a dark burgundy form the lanterns and assorted low volume fabrics fill in the background.
Empire Place in Cotton Couture

Empire Place in Cotton Couture

Last but certainly not least is the Empire Place quilt I made using solids and black & white prints. I used Michael Miller's extensive line of Cotton Couture solids and assorted Black & White prints to make this quilt and I love how it turned out! I may have even fussy-cut some little elephants for the center of the Accent blocks.
Empire Place in Intermix

Empire Place in Intermix

It is day 2 of Empire Place week here on the blog. Today we are sharing this soft and fresh version of the pattern made up in Intermix from Dear Stella. We love how this version turned out!

Introducing Empire Place!

Happy 2016! We had a fun year of creating in 2015 and a terrible few months of blogging, (or lack thereof)! So, I am trying my best to get caught up on all the patterns from Fall Market before moving onto our 2016 patterns!
