Introducing Mini Churndash Court
Mini Churndash Court pattern has been a long time coming. I made a mini version of our original Churndash Court years ago during my two-week churndash obsession state. I had just been introduced to the idea of mini quilts and couldn't get the idea of a mini churndash out of my head! So, I created this rainbow version with a white churndash.
I made this quilt while living in California and I really couldn't justify sending a 12" square home to my mom to quilt. So, I elongated my zigzag stitch as much as I could, put some white thread in machine and quilted wavy lines up each seam continuing the lines across the white churndash. I love the texture it created! I finished this quilt with a charcoal/white stripe and a pop of white to make my binding long enough!
Quick Quilt Stats:
- Made and Quilted by: Shayla Wolf

Here is a photo for scale, so you can see how small the mini is when being compared to the original Churndash Court. The original is a baby quilt, so it isn't huge, but the mini is about 1/3 of it's height and width. Notice the quilting is almost identical =]
I love, love, love this version of the Mini Churndash Court! Our friend Juli Kieny made us two holiday themed minis and who can resist a Halloween churndash? I was sad to send it back to her! Maybe by next Halloween I will make one of my own! I mean, how adorable are the little eyeballs and spiders that pop up?!

We love batiks! We have a nice stash of them and many full scrap bins! So, when MaryEllen Laughary (making us three generations of quilters!) was in town to help us prepare for Quilt Market, we tasked her with making a batik version of the Mini Churndash Court. This is what she came up with and we love it! These colors make me want to spend some time on the Mediterranean!

We received the most adorable primary-colored school-themed fabric from Windham Fabrics. The line was called Color and Count and was designed by Jill McDonald. We loved the colors, shapes and stripes in the line and decided to chop it up into little pieces and make one last Mini Churndash Court before Market! I love the red churndash, it really pops!

Tomorrow we are sharing Mini Lombard Street. Happy Friday =]
