Arcadia Avenue QAL Final Reveal - Take 2

Arcadia Avenue QAL Final Reveal - Take 2

Alrighty! I am back in Colorado and finally sharing the finished batik quilt from our Arcadia Avenue QAL! I love how this version turned out. My Mom used assorted teal, blue and purple batiks for the colors, assorted pinks for the accent, a black batik for the dark and a cream batik for the light.

Drumroll please.... We are revealing the finished Arcadia Avenue quilts this week (and next week) and we are kicking things off with fun rainbow version! I love this version! Each block has it's own color plus a light, medium and dark. It is a fun, colorful and scrappy take on the original.

We are a few days late! Sorry about that. It has been slightly chaotic around here these days. We closed on our new house on Friday and moved all of our belongings on Saturday. I have slowly been unpacking and can now see the floor in my sewing studio and kitchen... my priorities =].

Another two weeks has flown by and we are onto the 11th block of our 12 block Arcadia Avenue QAL. Can you believe we only have one more block after this? Where has the time gone?! Both of our lives have changed quite a bit since we have started this quilt along. It has been a wild ride and we are loving every second of it!

Happy belated 4th of July! I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. I stayed up with my parents this weekend for a little mini vacation. We worked on some home projects, did some sewing, dreamed about puppies, watched fireworks and ate some yummy barbecued foods! It was a much needed relaxing weekend!

Last week was a super fun week here in Boulder. Todd's family came out for a visit and got to meet my parents and sister. We went hiking, went to a Rockies game, ate good food and got spend some quality family time. It was great!

Not-so-helpful Help

Some times I need help getting photos of sewn projects. Last week was one of those times. I had just finished my Arcadia Avenue block 8, the sun was about to set and I needed a photo to put in the blog post (going up the next morning, yes I procrastinated!).

We are a day late but not a dollar short today! I hope everyone enjoyed their long holiday weekend. We sure did! Caught up on some things around the house, did a little sewing and cooked lots of summery food.
How to Fussy Cut Fabric

How to Fussy Cut Fabric

I love fussy-cutting! This might be because of my long term love affair with novelty prints! I have quite a hoard of them stashed away and only cut into them when their full cuteness can shine! One way to do that is by fussy-cutting. Just in case you are sitting at home thinking, “What the heck is fussy-cutting?”
