Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 10 Blog Tour
Welcome blog hoppers! It is that time of year again. The air is crisp, the trees are bare and there is a new issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks! This is Vol. 10... which means 1000 original blocks! That is pretty crazy. We have been participating for a few volumes nows, check out our past blocks in Vol. 7, Vol. 8 and Vol. 9. Okay, now on to our new blocks!
My Mom's block, keeping with her old car theme, is an adorable woodie. She dug through her stash and scrap bin for this block! She used two different woodgrain prints and an orange tone-on-tone for the car body, assorted scraps for the wheels, bumpers and presents, a light blue swirl for the sky and a grey print for the ground. I love the presents on top of the car! And that detailed stitching =] Isn't it just the cutest thing!
My is kind of a modge-podge of scraps. I knew which fabrics I wanted to use and what general shape I wanted to achieve and just started sewing. If you know me, you know this is not normal behavior! I am planner. Once I had my block made, I started playing with some quilt layouts. I am currently sewing on a project that will appear in Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Spring '15 issue featuring this quilt and Doe, Carolyn Friedlander's new line!
And now for the goods! We have a few extra magazines, so we will be giving 4 away! For a chance to win, leave a comment on this post (click the post title and scroll to the bottom) telling us what you are sewing for the upcoming holidays, and submit by midnight MST, Wednesday, November 19. I will pick four lucky winners and email them. =] This issue goes on sale today, so be sure to pick one up if you don't win! Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the tour!

I’m making a one-fabric quilt for my Mum, rescued from her stash when she was having a big cleanout. Can’t wait to see her face when it is finished!
Love your car block – the 100-blocks is worth buying just for that one. Will be stalking the blog for more car designs…

Love the old woodie! And so nice to see presents on the top instead of luggage or deer! Looking forward to seeing what you do with several of your blocks.

The Woody is great, I have a fondness for antique & classic cars this one block may be the reason I buy this magazine.
As for my Christmas projects I am currently working on Slippers for my oldest grandson and a wonderful Christmas wall hanging that has been lingering in my to do stack for to long.

I love the diagonal lines which give the blocks so much energy.

Congrats to both you and your mom. Both blocks are so wonderful. Since I am doing so much sewing for our sons wedding I am not doing too much for Christmas. But I am sewing a pink baby blanket for a new great niece born Nov. 10th and a few small things for our soon to be daughter in law. Both our son and his fiancé both sew and sell civil war clothes to re-enactors.

I think your scrappy block is very versatile – can’t wait to see how it will evolve into a quilt. I plan to make table runners for Christmas gifts this year. I’ll bet your block would make an interesting pattern for one.
