Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 10 Blog Tour
Welcome blog hoppers! It is that time of year again. The air is crisp, the trees are bare and there is a new issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks! This is Vol. 10... which means 1000 original blocks! That is pretty crazy. We have been participating for a few volumes nows, check out our past blocks in Vol. 7, Vol. 8 and Vol. 9. Okay, now on to our new blocks!
My Mom's block, keeping with her old car theme, is an adorable woodie. She dug through her stash and scrap bin for this block! She used two different woodgrain prints and an orange tone-on-tone for the car body, assorted scraps for the wheels, bumpers and presents, a light blue swirl for the sky and a grey print for the ground. I love the presents on top of the car! And that detailed stitching =] Isn't it just the cutest thing!
My is kind of a modge-podge of scraps. I knew which fabrics I wanted to use and what general shape I wanted to achieve and just started sewing. If you know me, you know this is not normal behavior! I am planner. Once I had my block made, I started playing with some quilt layouts. I am currently sewing on a project that will appear in Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Spring '15 issue featuring this quilt and Doe, Carolyn Friedlander's new line!
And now for the goods! We have a few extra magazines, so we will be giving 4 away! For a chance to win, leave a comment on this post (click the post title and scroll to the bottom) telling us what you are sewing for the upcoming holidays, and submit by midnight MST, Wednesday, November 19. I will pick four lucky winners and email them. =] This issue goes on sale today, so be sure to pick one up if you don't win! Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the tour!

I’m sewing more things than I can probably hope to finish by the holidays; a quilt that a friend asked me to make, art supply totes, library totes, skirts, tops, superhero capes, a backpack for a dog, pillows, and, oddly enough, a collection of various hats for a stuffed ferret (hey, when your grandson adores something, you just go with it, right?).

I am planning to make a pictorial quilt of my dad in his army uniform when he was commissioned for WWII. IF I get it completed, it will be on display at a nursery (floral) in early January. Then the plans are for it to go to my brother and his wife as a part of their Christmas although belated. Congrats on more acceptance to a great publication. I adore the blocks.

Not sure what I’ll be sewing for Christmas! I have lots of ideas, but not enough time to implement them all! (I blame that on my two daughters who got married 11 months apart – the last one 2 weeks ago.) But I’m not complaining!

Love Travelling in Style block, but Glee is what I really appreciate, because I like scrap quilting. Wonder what it would look like in a quilt? Thank you both for sharing with us.

I love the Woody. When I was a child my parents had one and my favorite memory is me riding in the back of it in a parade. This block brings back such wonderful memories. Thank you for sharing your blocks. They are so much fun.

Congratulations to both of you! I am just finishing a quilt for one of our daughters for Christmas, and I plan to make a Tea Party quilt for our 4 year old Great Granddaughter as well. I also finished a baby quilt for a soon to be first time Grandma, so it will be a real Quilty Christmas!

2 cute blocks, I am wondering how the diagonals block will look as the quilt. It reminds me of mountains that the old car would have trouble climbing. I will be making lots of pillowcases for Christmas.
