Wynkoop Court in Urban Zoologie
Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! -- Just kidding! Although there are lions =] There are also cows, flamingos, monkeys, giraffes, owls, alligators, ladybugs, frogs, pigs, turtles, bunnies, whales, elephants, hippos and foxes!
I love novelty prints and Ann Kelle's Urban Zoologie prints are some of the most adorable animal prints out there! We combined the animals with some fun bright geometric fabrics to create an i-spy version of our Wynkoop Court!
It is a little busier than our other Wynkoop Court quilts we have made, but it is fun! We used animals and geometric prints that had bright colors and light backgrounds for the triangles and a dark grey with white dots for the hexagons. They have enough contrast that you can still see the pattern.
My mom quilted vertical straight lines across the quilt at varying widths in a light orange thread. I love how it turned out! It is the perfect amount of wrinkle! I threw it into a tree in the front yard for a few photos before Quilt Market. We still had some pretty Fall leaves!
Quilt Stats:
- Made by: Shayla Wolf (moi)
- Quilted by: Kristy Wolf
- Pattern: Wynkoop Court
- Fabric: Ann Kelle's Urban Zoologie and Remix from Robert Kaufman
- Finished Size: 61" x 72" - Grande
- Techniques: easy-peasy triangle piecing!
- My Favorite Part: The adorable prints and fun label!
We bound the quilt in a grey and white chevron print. It was the perfect colors and adds to the whimsy of the quilt! I pieced a few leftover animals together to make a cute little label (it might be my favorite label ever!) and using our Easy Peasy Label Tutorial, I put it in the corner of the quilt.
The Wynkoop Court pattern is available here in PDF and paper form. If you make this or any other Sassafras Lane pattern, we would love to see it! We have more versions of Wynkoop Court to share, so be sure to stop back by. Happy Sewing!

Great version, this one too!! The Wynkoop Court is a wonderful pattern. If you put the Sunday Morning version next to this Urban Zoologie one, it is, at first sight, almost unbelievable it’s the same pattern!!
