Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Vol. 10 Blog Tour

Welcome blog hoppers! It is that time of year again. The air is crisp, the trees are bare and there is a new issue of Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks! This is Vol. 10... which means 1000 original blocks! That is pretty crazy. We have been participating for a few volumes nows, check out our past blocks in Vol. 7, Vol. 8 and Vol. 9. Okay, now on to our new blocks!

My Mom's block, keeping with her old car theme, is an adorable woodie. She dug through her stash and scrap bin for this block! She used two different woodgrain prints and an orange tone-on-tone for the car body, assorted scraps for the wheels, bumpers and presents, a light blue swirl for the sky and a grey print for the ground. I love the presents on top of the car! And that detailed stitching =] Isn't it just the cutest thing!

Block Size: 12"
Block Number: 919
Block Name: Travelin' in Style
Designer: Kristy Wolf
Technique: Fusible Appliqué

My is kind of a modge-podge of scraps. I knew which fabrics I wanted to use and what general shape I wanted to achieve and just started sewing. If you know me, you know this is not normal behavior! I am planner. Once I had my block made, I started playing with some quilt layouts. I am currently sewing on a project that will appear in Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Spring '15 issue featuring this quilt and Doe, Carolyn Friedlander's new line!

Block Size: 12"
Block Number: 998
Block Name: Glee
Designer: Shayla Wolf
Technique: Pieced

And now for the goods! We have a few extra magazines, so we will be giving 4 away! For a chance to win, leave a comment on this post (click the post title and scroll to the bottom) telling us what you are sewing for the upcoming holidays, and submit by midnight MST, Wednesday, November 19. I will pick four lucky winners and email them. =] This issue goes on sale today, so be sure to pick one up if you don't win! Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of the tour!

Great block. The only thing I will be sewing for a gift this Christmas is a flannel Olaf pillow case for our youngest granddaughter. She has Frozen bedding, so thought this would make a nice addition for the winter months.
