Mulholland Drive in Greens, Teals and Blues
A few days before we left for Quilt Market in Pittsburgh, we decided to make another version of our Mulholland Drive quilt pattern. We went in a completely opposite direction of the cover quilt and started pulling lime, teal, aqua and blue fabrics and put them on a stark white background.
I love scrappy quilts! They are my favorite! Don't get me wrong, I love quilts using a specific fabric line too, but there is something about pulling little pieces fabric together that I can't get enough of! We used pieces of fabrics from most of the quilts we made for Quilt Market.
My Mom, the talent behind Wolf Creek Quilting, quilted vertical serpentine lines in the 60 degree triangles and horizontal serpentine lines in the diamonds with a very light blue thread. She left the white sashing empty and this creates a fun slightly puffy spot, giving the quilt some fun texture.
Using our Easy Quilt Label tutorial, we made a label with scraps of lime pearl bracelets, parrot zig zags and solid white fabrics. In the picture above you can also see a sneak peek of the backing fabric we used. We chose the wide aqua backing fabric that is available here!
We wanted a simple binding because the quilt is a little busier, so we used the emerald pearl bracelets fabric. It was the perfect choice and blends amazingly with the quilt.
