'Tis the Season for Baby Quilts
It is officially Spring! I know some of you just had a major snowfall out on the east coast, but Spring is starting to pop up in subtle ways. For us, it is in full swing. We've already had some 80 degree days - yikes! This season for me is always accompanied with new babies. Everywhere I look there are freshies in strollers and big baby bumps! Baby quilts are my favorite to make - they are bright, quick and use fun novelty fabrics! Here are a few crib-size quilts for the newest baby in your life!
Lullaby Lane
Have an adorable novelty print you can't bear to cut into? I have a few and that is how the Lullaby Lane pattern came about! This is a fun and fast quilt project that is customizable to boot!
Shivaun Place
The "tall" size in our Shivaun Place pattern makes a great play-time quilt! It finishes as a 38" x 38" square and features two fat-quarters. I love the bright fresh look this patchwork pattern makes.
Zoey's Zoo
A lion, a bear, a fox and a penguin - oh my! Zoey's Zoo is our first set of large appliqué animals. The pattern contains all four animals and a full alphabet, reversed and ready to go! Each animal has a personality that will make your new baby smile!
Churndash Court
Finishing as a 36" square, the Churndash Court quilt is the perfect size for a baby quilt! Grab an adorable jelly-roll set or dive into your scrap bin to start making this fun, fast and modern take on a traditional quilt block!
Euclid Avenue
The smallest size of our Euclid Avenue pattern makes an adorable baby quilt! We love to combine novelty prints and bright coordinates to create fun and interesting designs. These large paper-pieced blocks fly together!
Park Place
Customizable baby quilts are fun keepsakes for babies as they grow up! Park Place is a jelly-roll friendly quilt pattern that includes a full alphabet reversed and ready for appliqué. This fun modern design looks adorable in bright novelty prints.
Diamond Detour
The "tall" size in our Diamond Detour pattern finishes at 33" x 45" and makes a great baby quilt! This pattern is either fat-quarter or 10" square friendly and super fast to piece. Add in a striped binding and you have yourself a fun baby quilt!
Sammy's Safari
Our second set of large appliqué animals includes a monkey, elephant, giraffe and alligator. Sammy's Safari includes all four full-size animals and the entire alphabet reversed and ready to appliqué!
Spring is the season for making baby quilts. I know I will whipping up a few soon for expecting friends! And to recap why making baby quilts is fun, I made a list!
1. They are bright and novelty fabrics are the cutest!
2. They are fast - we are talking a weekend project with time to spare!
3. They will make the baby and parents very happy campers. To prove it, here is a happy little camper hanging out on his personal quilt!
All of these patterns are available for purchase. We would love to see any baby quilts you are creating this season! Send us photos, post them to our Flickr group or use our #sassafraslane hashtag on Instagram! Happy Sewing!
