Fall Quilt Market Sneak Peek

I am writing this blog post from an uncomfortable airplane seat somewhere over Nevada or Utah. You know what that means! The Sass girls will both be back in the Orange Studio getting ready for Quilt Market. We will be previewing 4 new patterns in Houston and can't wait to share them with you! Here is a little sneak peek of what we have been up to!

Here is the second quilt we had featured in the Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Fall 2014 issue. Today, I am going to share the quilt I designed for the issue, Say Cheese!
George the Bear

George the Bear

Meet George the bear, one of the newest additions to the Zoey's Zoo bunch! My Mom made and quilted this adorable bear for our neighbor's newest grandson. My mom used two tone-on-tone browns for the bear, a turquoise chevron for the background, a lime for the churndash, a grey dot for the background and assorted lime, aqua and teal scraps for behind the letters.

Mulholland Drive in Cockateil

We have another fun Quilt Market project to hare with you today! We made this Mulholland Drive quilt to be featured in the Hoffman California Fabrics booth. This quilt features Cockatiel batiks and we absolutely love how it turned out; it is so different from any of our other versions! The quilt finished 52” x 70” - the perfect size to throw over your couch.
Collaboration with Robert Kaufman

Collaboration with Robert Kaufman

Not too long ago, Nichole from Robert Kaufman Fabrics asked me if I was interested in mocking up some of our quilt patterns in their fabrics. The answer was an astounding yes! So far we have mocked up our Euclid Avenue and Shivaun Place quilt patterns. We love how these turned out, so we thought we should share them!

Mulholland Drive in Greens, Teals and Blues

Mulholland Drive in Greens, Teals and Blues

A few days before we left for Quilt Market in Pittsburgh, we decided to make another version of our Mulholland Drive quilt pattern. We went in a completely opposite direction of the cover quilt and started pulling lime, teal, aqua and blue fabrics and put them on a stark white background.

Elsie Stone's Diamond Alley Quilt

Elsie Stone's Diamond Alley Quilt

Elsie Stone sent us pictures of her gorgeous Diamond Alley quilt and we had to share them! She used assorted red fabrics for the diamonds, ranging from light pink to dark maroon, and a crisp white for the background. She made the Diamond Alley quilt pattern larger by adding 2 more vertical rows, making a total of 39 diamonds, and large white borders that float the diamonds.
New Mini Quilt Wall

New Mini Quilt Wall

I have a small (and growing) collection of mini quilts. There is a huge satisfaction is designing, sewing, quilting, binding and hanging something all in one day! I have my small collection of six quilts hung behind my sewing machine table.
