Paradox Point QAL - Block 5
I can't believe we are already almost through February. 2017 has been a fun year so far. I usually hibernate and create all winter long, but our weather has been a giant tease and we have had a couple weeks of 60-70 degree days. I have been working on some secret sewing and I can't wait to share it with you. Until then, the Paradox Point QAL is rolling along - before we dive into the blocks, we have a little announcement.
I could think of no better way to celebrate my birthday than by celebrating with all of you - so we are having a little Birthday Sale all this week! All patterns are 20% off, this includes paper patterns, pdf patterns, mini patterns and books! Be sure to use the discount code BIRTHDAY2017 from 2/27 to 3/3. Now it is time for the beautiful blocks!
Kristy's Block:
This block has me day dreaming about my favorite holiday, Halloween! The combination of a black print with white triangle dots, a white print with black hatching and a vibrant orange has me swooning. Plus, the block pattern looks a little like teeth when you get in the Halloween spirit! =]
Juli's Block:
From Halloween to Summer. Juli's block 5 features two summery yellow prints that have me wanting my 70 degree days back! (I am currently watching it snow while writing this post - weather whiplash.) The yellows combined with the black accent and newsprint background look fabulous!
MaryEllen's Block:
This warm block fits my current weather mood perfectly. It is super cozy and I can't wait to see this quilt all put together. MaryEllen combined two low volume prints with a burgundy accent and it is stunning. I love this combo on her dark tone-on-tone background.
Alayna's Block:
Luckily, Alayna's school has a mid-winter break. So, she was able to whip up her latest block while hanging out with my mom this week! This is another sunny block made up with two yellow prints, a charcoal accent, and light grey sketch background. I absolutely love the yellow plaid Alayna used!
Block 5 Design Options:
- Color Crazy - This block can create a few different focuses depending on where you place your fabrics and which ones you choose.
- Turn Down the Volume - Finding two volumes prints that contrast enough but still qualify as low volume can be tricky. Don't shy away from pastels!
- Holi-Daze - I am in full Halloween mode these days - odd for February - but this block makes a fun spooky block! Grab those spider webs and have some fun.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner!
I love seeing our designs in different color schemes and this blue version my friend Kristen of @twoblondesandasewingmachine is making has me swooning. This is her second block and I can't wait to see more!
Now your turn - keep sharing those photos folks! We want to see how your blocks turn out. We have started a Flickr group so you can add your photos there. You can also tag photos on Instagram with #ParadoxPointQAL! We will pick another winner for a small giveaway from everyone who participates.
First time here, no problem! Join in the fun. Read up on the previous posts here, grab a book and begin when it works for you. Thanks for stopping by and don't be shy with any questions and comments!
