Diamond Detour in Batiks
We love batiks. In fact, we have quite a large stash collection of them! So, we decided to make a version of the Diamond Detour in our favorite batik color combination. We pulled lime, purple, blue and turquoise printed batiks for the pieced diamonds and a gorgeous beige bubble print for the background.
This color combination matches my parents living room perfectly, so my Mom backed the quilt with a minkee-esk blanket. It will be used to snuggle under as the weather starts to cool down!
My Mom, the amazing talent behind Wolf Creek Quilting, choose to do some simple quilting on this one. She quilted horizontal straight lines across the quilt at varying widths. The quilting creates an amazing texture!
My mom bound the quilt in a gorgeous teal batik. Using a blanket on the backing makes the quilt heavier, so my usual rolled photo for binding looks a little squished.
Quick Quilt Stats:
- Made & Quilted by: Kristy Wolf
- Quilting: Horizontal straight lines
- Pattern: Diamond Detour
- Fabric: Assorted batiks
- Finished Size: 58" x 77"
- Techniques: Basic Piecing
- My Favorite Part: The great texture the quilting and heavy backing gives the quilt. Totally snuggle worthy!
Now we have shared Diamond Detour quilts in solids, prints and batiks. What is next? Well you will have to stop by tomorrow to find out! There will be another fun version, plus a giveaway sponsored by Andover. Thanks for stopping by!
