Introducing Prism Parkway!
Say hello to the newest Sassafras Lane pattern, Prism Parkway! This pattern was originally published in Quiltmaker Magazine awhile back and will now be available though us! This is a versatile, modern, triangular paper-piecing quilt pattern. The Prism Parkway pattern includes three quilt sizes (Venti [72" x 97"], Grande [54" x 75"] and Tall [36" x 54"]), two design options (one with wavy ends, and one without) and in-depth paper-piecing instructions.
To make the cover quilt super-duper scrappy, my mom and I split up the foundation papers and each made half of the blocks from our orange stashes. It was so much fun when we put them together. Surprisingly, there were only a handful of repeated fabrics. We each have extensive collections, but I was envious of a few of her fabrics. Good thing she shares pretty well =]
My mom, the amazing quilter behind Wolf Creek Quilting, quilted a spiral in each of the pinwheels with a light orange thread. Those spirals are perfect for highlighting the points where the triangles come together, plus it adds some amazing texture to the quilt!
For some reason when I was shooting this quilt, I kept thinking about bridges. Luckily for me, there are quite a few in my neck of the woods. Most of the bridges were in direct sunlight, which created some hard shadows and strange back-lighting. I found one bridge that was surrounded by trees.
The bridge was a little dirty and covered with moss, but a great photo location. I took some flat shots of the quilt on the bridge (above) and then I scrunched the quilt up for a few. I love styling quilts in a thrown and "natural" way.
For the Prism Parkway pattern cover, I chose a scrunched photo on the bridge. I love how it turned out and I hope you do too!
If you make this pattern or any other of our Sassafras Lane Designs patterns, send us an email! (contact@sassafras-lane.com) We would love to feature you and the quilt on here!
