Quilty Friendship Bracelets

I LOVE when my worlds collide and when I saw that people were making quilty friendship bracelets to exchange at QuiltCon I was equally elated and bummed. The bummed part is only because we opted to not attend QuitCon this year, so I am having some serious FOMO! But, that did not stop the giant Swiftie inside me from making a handful (okay, way more than a handful!) of bracelets.

I love that this trend of making friendship bracelets to exchange with friends and strangers has grown past Taylor Swift concerts and into other events and groups. It is a crafty way to connect with people who have the same interests as you. It also takes us back to the pre-teen, sleep-away camp days of our youth when we made bracelets for our besties.

Materials

There are so many bead options out there. I personally love the look of the 7mm letter beads mixed with the 4mm colorful glass beads. Below are the products that have worked great for me, but there are so many options online and at your local craft store!

Tips & Tricks

After making a few dozen of these I feel qualified to give some tips that might make it easier and enjoyable!

    • Keep your words or phrases relatively shorts
    • Tweezers were helpful to get the beads out of the plastic bins.
    • Pull slightly on your elastic when tying it off and triple knot it!
    • Using an open needle to string the beads helps immensely
    • Put on a movie or a show to keep you entertained!

Now that I have made all these bracelets I have to figure out what to do with them! Should we bring them to h+h americas or sell them at retails shows? And fair warning, these little puppies are kind of addictive! I love making them in the evenings while watching a show.
