Mini Wild Moose Chase - Make a Herd of Six!

Playing with patterns - we do it too! Even though we write the patterns, we sometimes, play and put a spin on them. Making things bigger, smaller, adding more blocks, rounding the corners, etc. It is fun to take something and make it your own. Take something simple and make it scrappy, or add horns to a cow and make it a steer. 😉

And that is what we did with our Mini Wild Moose Chase pattern for the Favorite Things look book. We took our 4 moose herd and made it six so we could feature all 12 of the colorful prints in the line. If you would like to make one just like it, below is a little info on how to do so.

MooseCover

To make the Mini Wild Moose Chase pattern to feature 6 blocks instead of 4 is fairly easy!

Yardage Changes

  • Instead of 8 Moose Fabrics you will need 12 (we used the 12 colorful fabrics from our Favorite Things fabric line)
  • Instead of a fat-quarter of Background you will need 3/8 yard (we used the grey paw print from Favorite Things)
  • You may need something a little larger than a fat-quarter for the backing if you like a little bit more wiggle room on the sides

Cutting Changes

In the Background cutting directions where it states 8, you will need 12 and where it states 4, you will need 6. The top and bottom borders will remain the same and the sides will be 18.5" long.

Sewing Changes

Make 6 Moose instead of 4. Voila! That’s it. Easy Peasy.

We hope you enjoy playing with quilt patterns as much as we do and always encourage you to play and make something your own.

Happy Sewing!
