Introducing Mini Bourbon Street
Well so much for my “A Blog Post A Day” goal! But, I am back with a new post today to introduce this show stopping mini quilt pattern. Mini Bourbon Street is the shrunken version of our popular Bourbon Street Pattern. This is a fun way to use the tiny scraps you’ve been saving. Now, let’s get to the nitty gritty!
The FABRICS
The control freak in me wanted the colors to cascade across the blocks in the same direction, so I took tiny little pieces and made myself a little guide to follow. I chose scraps that created a spectrum of colors and paired them with a black and white fabric for the accents.
The PATTERN
This is mini quilt is approximately the same size as one block of the original Bourbon Street pattern! How fun, or crazy, is that?!
- Pattern: Mini Bourbon Street
- Full-size Sidekick Pattern: Bourbon Street
- Fabric: Assorted Colorful Scraps, a white accent and black print accent
- Quilting: One Giant Spiral
- Finished Size: 13in x 13in
- Techniques: Patchwork and Foundation paper-piecing
- Tip: Open your seams to reduce the bulk and help keep those points crisp!
The FINISHING TOUCHES
The spiral quilting on our OG Bourbon Street quilt always catches peoples eyes. So, when we made a mini, we decided to quilt it the same way! We start in the center and quilt a spiral about 1/2in apart all the way off the edges. Then, like many of our quilts, we decided to finish the Mini Bourbon Street quilt with a black and white stripe binding!
Thanks for popping by the blog! See you tomorrow for another catch-up blog post!
