Introducing Happy Highway

The last, but certainly not least, quilt pattern in our Fall 2021 Pattern Launch is HAPPY HIGHWAY. We saved the happiest quilt for last and we hope it makes you smile as much as it does us! We love patchwork, fabric scraps and rainbows. So, inevitably we would make a scrappy patchwork rainbow quilt - and just like that, Happy Highway came to be!

Happy Highway Includes

  • Two sizes - Wall Size 29in x 29in and Quilt Size 58in x 58in.
  • Background cutting diagrams for efficient cutting.
  • Our favorite no-trim half-square triangle making method!

Behind the Scenes

When furry critters take naps in the studio, they are often covered with a quilt. Crosby came to supervise our photoshoot one afternoon and fell asleep on the job. He ended up with a cute little rainbow quilt to snuggle with! The other photo shows the original color of the door we used as a backdrop that ended up getting photoshopped a wee bit.

The Happy Highway Quilts

These were fun samples to make! Kristy dug into her scrap bins for the quilt size version and I dug through mine for the wall size. It was fun to see how many fabrics we had in common and even more to see how many different ones we have squirreled away! She definitely has more red fabrics and I tend to lean more towards coral.

Happy Highway

Kristy quilted a horizontal swirl fill in the background, fluffy loops in the clouds and horizontal serpentine lines in the rainbow of the larger quilt. The wall quilt version of the Happy Highway was quilted with horizontal straight lines approximately 1/2in apart.

Happy Highway

The squares in the quilt open up the opportunity to play with color, fabric placement and even fussy-cutting! We can’t wait to see these Happy Highway quilts popping up all over the world!
