Favorite Things IG Tour Recap!
Wow! That was quite the week! There was an abundance of inspiration and eye-candy from all the makers. In case you don’t have Instagram, missed a few of these projects or want to see them all in one place, I am putting together a little recap post here with all the projects, patterns links and more! So, grab a big cup of coffee or tea… or wine if it is the right time of night and let’s look at all this colorful goodness! (cover photo by Kaitlyn of Knot and Thread)
Ben made this gorgeous fat-quarter friendly throw quilt that features all 20 skus of Favorite Things! He named this pattern Wild Geese That Fly and it is available in his pattern shop. I highly recommend reading his blog post - I am a sucker for a good process photo and he shows lots! I am now adding paper plates to my sewing notions.
BEYOND THE REEF
Natalie added a bit of color to her kitchen with her projects! In the spirit of the fabric line and slowing down to enjoy the little things, Natalie has been cooking more and made a new apron, a few pot holders and trivets. Check out Natalie's YouTube channel for upcoming tutorials on these quilt-as-you-go projects!.
Linda made up the 48in baby size version of her All Stacked Up pattern for the IG tour. It was a perfect project for one Favorite Things fat-quarter bundle and boy is it cute! Linda has a super fun quilt along for her All Stacked Up pattern that you can join any time via her blog or YouTube channel. It is a great way to get inspired and keep up with a project!
COTTON AND BOURBON
Audrey’s project for the Favorite Things IG Tour tugs at my heart strings! She made her “big” pup, Sadie, a quilted jacket! She used the cool fabrics (greens, blues and purples) from the line and boy do they pop off the white pup’s fur! Audrey adapted the Dandy Doo Jacket pattern she had made for her Dachshund puppy to fit Sadie, who is just a smidge bigger! If you are a puppy and quilt lover, you will want to give her a follow!
Elise made a gorgeous English paper-pieced hexagon mug rug by pairing the Favorite Things fabric with her beautiful Celestial Blossom pattern. The contrasting thread white thread on a black binding is completely drool-worthy! In addition to designing beautiful EPP patterns, Elise teaches quilters how to design patterns using Adobe Illustrator. Check it out!
Emily of Quilty Love made her Lucky Log Cabins pattern with a bundle of Favorite Things fat-quarters and it is phenomenal! I have long admired Emily’s use of color and her designs so it is always fun to see what she creates with my bright palette. This quick pattern is a great fat-quarter friendly for all sewists from beginner to expert!
FLYING PARROT QUILTS
Sylvia of Flying Parrot Quilts made this beautiful quilt and had a pattern naming contest for it! The pattern will be available soon - be sure to check out her website so you can snag it when it is available. I love how she used the two dark prints from Favorite Things as the background and then gradated the colors diagonally though the quilt. It really shines!
KNOT AND THREAD
Kaitlyn of Knot and Thread sewed up her gorgeous Second Star pattern with Favorite Things and it is swoon-worthy! She made some tweaks to her pattern, like a floating rainbow border and second quilt on the back - read all about it in her detailed blog post. Kaitlyn’s projects always feature stunning quilting and this one follows suit! Love that quilty texture!
POWERED BY QUILTING
Sherry designed a new pattern for the IG tour, Color Pop! What a perfect name and project for Favorite Things. I love how the blocks alternate the color placement back and forth, adding movement to the quilt! Sherry has an introductory sale on this pattern through 2/16/21. Grab a pattern while it is on sale and read her blog post all about it!
ROBIN RUTH DESIGN
Robin designed a super fun quilt pattern for the IG Tour using her tried and true strip-pieced Mariner’s Compass technique. If you have not made one of Ruth’s projects, you NEED to - they are ingenious! Robin used the white prints from Favorite Things for the backgrounds, the colors for the butterfly wings and the black triangle print as the sashing. My Favorite Butterflies Collection pattern is available!
Sarah made her Pathfinder quilt pattern with the Favorite Things fabrics and I adore how it turned out! She used all 20 fat-quarters from the line and coupled them in contrasting pairs to create the blocks. Such a fun quilt design! I can’t wait to see it all quilted up. Sarah blogged about her project here, be sure to take a gander and snag a Pathfinder pattern!
SEW MANY CREATIONS
Jess made the only bag of the bunch and wow, is it stunning! She used her Liana Bowler Bag pattern and paper-pieced a block onto the front. Want to know more about her process? Watch her video on Facebook for details! She not only made this stunning bag, she also sewed up a matching Diva Wallet with her leftover fabric! Everything to make these projects Is available on her website and I highly recommend checking out her Facebook Live videos!
Irene, of Sugaridoo, made TWO different mini quilts for the Favorite Things IG Tour! The ice cream mini quilt on the left is a block from her upcoming book - but Irene has decided to release this individual pattern first! Get the “Ice Cream, Yes Please!” mini quilt pattern here. The adorable Wobbly Bobbly mini quilt pattern on the right will be available soon! Both are so different and so fun - it is a great example of how versatile this fabric line is.
THE CRAFTY NOMAD FLEET
Jo made up her Tipsy Petals cushion pattern to feature the Favorite Things fabric line. I love how Jo uses color and shapes in her projects and this use of a Drunkard’s Path is so creative! Jo is hosting a Tipsy Petals Sew Along so you can join in the fun and make your own cushion. Read all about Jo’s cushion here and get inspired to make your own!
Joanne turned one of her Tangled foundation paper-pieced blocks into a stunning pillow for the Favorite Things IG Tour. She used the assorted white prints from the line as the background and let the colors tangle on top! Joanne finished her pillow with a pink binding and pieced backing - it turned out adorable! Get the Tangled pattern and more of her fun designs here.
Well, now that you are super inspired by all these gorgeous projects, you may need to grab a Favorite Things bundle!
Big thank you to all these amazing designers who took the time to make something for this fabric launch! They all did such a wonderful job and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did!
I know I promised a blog post all about this line, and I will keep it… sometime this month! We are currently filming some stuff for Quilt Market and are about to launch a new backpack pattern! Stay tuned for lots more stuff coming from us soon!
