Diamond Alley in Artisan Spirit - Shimmer
We have some amazing friends. They are always there to help! Whether we need proof-readers (always!), patterns tested or an actual quilt made, someone is always there! We bit off a lot for our first Market and a few friends offered to help us make some quilts we promised. This beauty was made and quilted by Juli Kieny.
Northcott has a new line of Artisan Spirit - Shimmers coming out and they sent us a big box to play with! For this Diamond Alley we chose 32 different jewel-toned fabrics and a black background. We handed it off to Juli and she worked her magic!
On the edge of town we have some old silos. This is one of my favorite spots to shoot large quilts. We use our handy-dandy quilt hooks to hang the quilt right onto silo. It is a nice neutral background that is interesting but not distracting. We shot our Atlantic Avenue quilt cover here.
Juli used a gold metallic thread to quilt the Diamond Alley. I love the extra Shimmer it gives the quilt! She quilted feathers in each of the diamonds and pebbled the sashing. She did an amazing job!
This is another place I like to shoot. It is aways shady and the distressed blue fence makes a fun backdrop. We shot our scrappy version of Atlantic Avenue here.
There used to be a whole fence. We are down to one chunk now. I hope the owners don't throw it away! Behind the fence... not so pretty! Luckily the tree is a perfect blocker.
