Introducing Lantern Lane!
Lantern Lane was one of the new patterns we introduced at Quilt Market in Houston. I designed this pattern after I was mesmerized by the lanterns hanging in the streets in Chinatown in San Francisco. I loved the way they radiated against the dark night sky. I woke up the next morning, sketched a quick idea and started sewing!
The Lantern Lane pattern includes three different sizes: Venti (63" x 77"), Grande (45" x 55") and Tall (27" x 33"), full size foundations, a coloring sheet and cutting sizes for the paper-piecing sections.
For the cover quilt, we used assorted navy prints, tone-on-tones and solids for the background and assorted light grey, silver and lime tone-on-tones for the lanterns. We used a lot of different fabrics, but kept the fabrics consistent in each block.
The quilting on this quilt is absolutely perfect. Kristy quilted serpentining horizontal lines between the lanterns and wavy lines down each lantern piece.
And of course, when shooting in the front yard, we had a party crasher. Bauer, our 9 year-old Bernese Mountain dog, decided to ham it up in front of the quilt. We actually loved one of the photos so much, we used it on the cover!
