Saddle Up - Time To Introduce The Boot Tapping Boulevard Quilt Pattern
Howdy, friends! Meet Boot Tapping Boulevard, a pattern that’s equal parts western flair, playful appliqué, and checkerboard movement. Grab your fat-quarters of your favorite prints and let’s make something that kicks up dust (in the best way).
New Boot Goofin’
Boot Tapping Boulevard features a parade of bold, appliquéd cowboy boots—each boot uniquely styled with stars, hearts, wild west motifs, playful patterns, and personality. The boots march (or dance!) across the quilt between vibrant checkerboard blocks that add contrast, bounce, and visual energy.
This pattern is fat-quarter friendly, so you can pull together your stash, mix prints and solids, go wild or stay calm—it all works. There are 3 patterns included in the Boot Tapping Boulevard pattern, so there will be no issue making a size that fits your needs!
Why This One’s Instantly One of My Favorites
- It’s bold. The boots are fun and expressive, making each one a mini art piece—especially when you pick prints that speak to you.
- The checkerboard blocks add rhythm—they make the design pop and keep the eye moving across the quilt.
- Because it is fat-quarter friendly layout, you can go stash-diving and use those beloved and saved fabrics.
- It has personality! Hearts, stars, western motifs—there’s room for sparkle, attitude, and charm.
The Cover Quilt
We made a rainbow of boots and no one is surprised! Using the saturated tone-on-tone fabrics of Foundation 2, we created boots that dance across the quilt in color order. We made the background and checkerboard fabrics serpentine down the quilt in rainbow order and appliquéd contrasting boots on top. This created the spectrum of color you’ve come to know as our style while adding interest and letting the boots pop off the backdrop!
Make It Eras Themed
There some ladies on Instagram documenting their process of making the Boot Tapping Boulevard quilt pattern Taylor Swift themed and you know I had to get on it! Since Taylor just announced her 12th album, Life of a Showgirl, rounding out the eras and making it perfect for this pattern. I mocked up this pattern with assorted basic prints and a few perfectly themed fabrics. Each block represents an era and I love how it looks! Who else is gonna make an Eras themed Boot Tapping Boulevard?
Appliqué Those Boots Successfully With These Tips
- Using a good fusible web can make or break your project. We love TransWeb because it is a web style instead of a glue product meaning you can heat it over and over without it dissipating.
- Pressing sheets are your friend—use a pressing sheet to avoid sticky messes and build your tulips before fusing them to a background.
- Use a sharp needle and be sure to swap it out for your next project. The fusible can gum them up a bit.
- To avoid the edges pulling up during stitching, press throughly—and use a stabilizer to keep things stiff while sewing.
