Quilt-It Modern Blog Tour July 01 2016, 4 Comments
Today is our stop along the Riley Blake Quilt-it Modern blog tour!
This tour is all about showing off these fun solids and giving you loads of ideas on how to play with them! We originally were just going to make an Empire Place pillow, but couldn't help ourselves and made 2 mini quilts too! Here they are:
When the lovely ladies are Riley Blake asked us what colors we would like to work with, our immediate (and typical) reaction was RAINBOW! They sent us pieces of lots of colors and we had a blast making a Mini Diamond Detour, Mini Piccadilly Circle and turning one block from Empire Place into a pillow.
Our latest BOM pattern, Empire Place, has 9 blocks that can make fun projects on their own. This quilted 14" x 14" pillow is one idea! We used 12 different solids to make the pillow - 10 different rainbow colors for the center pieces, white for the background and navy for the accent. We quilted the block and backing and added a hidden zipper to finish it all off.
After this pillow, we just had to make more! We whipped up two mini quilts that also had a rainbow theme and used more colors!
The first mini I whipped up was our Mini Diamond Detour quilt. I love how striking these rich solids make the diamonds look! They practically jump off the quilt! We quilted this one with straight vertical lines approximately 1/2" apart with white thread.
The second mini we made was our Mini Piccadilly Circle. I love creating color-wheels and these gorgeous solids made a perfect one! We quilted this one with a grid design approximately 1" apart in white thread.
Each one of these projects was a blast to create with the amazing Riley Blake Confetti Cottons and Crayola Colors solids. Be sure to check out the other stops on this tour. There are some amazing ideas and creations!
Thank you for stopping by our little corner of the internet and be sure to check out the rest of the stops along this fun blog tour!
