New Diamond Alley Cover Quilt

We have recently revamped 5 of our favorite past pattern covers! I am going to do a little blog post on each but we are kicking it off with Diamond Alley.

Kristy woke up one day with an urge to make another Diamond Alley quilt using fabrics from all three of our fabric lines. Diamond Alley was our first ever design and our third pattern. It was published back in 2012, so we thought it was time for a little refresh!

Kristy pulled fabrics for the diamond blocks from Foundation, Good Vibes Only and Favorite Things. She chose 32 different fabrics that created a fun spectrum of color! We also happened to stumble upon the perfect tiny rainbow print for the background. After she made the diamond blocks, she rearranged them a few times until she found the perfect layout.

We photographed this new cover in front of an aqua building down the hill from Kristy’s house. Because the Diamond Alley is a large quilt and we wanted to get a flat photo for the cover, we used a thin strip of wood fed through fabric loops that we pinned to the back. The ends of the wood went into corners we added when we finished the binding.

One of our favorite things to do with the cutoffs from the Diamond Alley quilt pattern is to piece them together to make a back. Kristy pieced all the scraps together and added the word print from Good Vibes Only to the top and bottom to make the back.

We wanted a few more photos, so we set up a little backyard photoshoot. In the photo below you can see a little behind-the-scenes - the doors leaned up against the house, the trash bag keeping the white quilt corner clean from the wet ground and of course the fur-ball models!

We fell in love with this quilt so much, we decided to kit it! We only have one Diamond Alley Quilt Kit left - we may make more in the future, but for now, grab it while you can! Stay tuned for the next revamped pattern blog post coming soon!
