Introducing the Perpetual Plaza Quilt Pattern — Let’s Play with Color!

I’ve been itching to share this one with you… this is the kind of quilt design that feels almost too easy for how fabulous it turns out. Meet the Perpetual Plaza Quilt Pattern — where half-square triangles meet bright and cheerful fabrics to create the perfect crinkly rainbow to snuggle with all year long.

What’s the Scoop?

Perpetual Plaza is a simple patchwork quilt built to show off your boldest and most favorite prints. This quilt pattern is like walking through a city plaza with tiles in every direction—only here, the tiles are blocks, the walkways are seams, and the chatter is your favorite song playing while you sew.

Perpetual Plaza is fat-quarter friendly, which means you can dive into your stash or grab a bundle without stressing about matching yardage. There are four sizes included, so whether you want a cozy lap quilt, a bed quilt, or something in between—we’ve got you covered.

Who It’s For? Hint, Everyone!

Beginners, this one is for you! We don’t often lean into simple patchwork shapes like half-square triangles but occasionally we want to sew something that is fun and quick. Experienced quilters, you’ll love the chance to play with color, contrast, and block arrangement options: a chance to let prints shine an to try a layout you may have not expected.

The Cover Quilt

The Perpetual Plaza cover quilt is made in our upcoming fabric line, Foundation 2. We paired all the colors together in contrasting pairs and used the low volumes for the Accent fabric. These white-ish fabrics really make the colors sing! We arranged the blocks in an offset grid with the yellow blocks in the center and colors radiating out from there. The way the blocks are arranged give the quilt a secondary diamond design that you can see when you step back.

We took this quilt with us on my moving trip (Seattle to Tucson) and stopped in Palm Springs for the day to snap some pictures. It ended up being way too windy for a photoshoot, but I did capture my sister almost getting blown away with the quilt!

Gimme Some More Ideas

The versatility of the pattern is endless! We have so far only made the one version (I wish I had more sewing time!) but we plan to make many more. This would be such a great quilt to gift because it is easy and quick to make but still punches that star power look! To give you a couple more ideas, I mocked up a few quilts in some upcoming fabric lines.
