Introducing Firelights Lane
It is finally time to start introducing our new Spring patterns! Today we are going to talk all about Firelights Lane. This pattern is a new and fresh take on the popular chevron design. We all have those fabric collections we love and don’t want to chop up into tiny little pieces. This pattern was designed with that in mind. Using large triangles, we created a modern design that is quick to sew, looks great and let’s your favorite fabrics shine!
We recommend the Triangle-Squared ruler from Creative Grids for this quilt. It is not the same as a 60 degree triangle ruler (another one of our favorites!). We included full-size templates into the pattern, so the ruler is not necessary, but it does make the cutting much simpler and faster!
We used the Cycles of Life fabric collection from Maywood Studio. It is great combination of oranges, blues, yellows, bicycles, bike chains and more. We really wanted to show off the versatility of this quilt. This quilt is a quick weekend project and the graphic geometric design is great for kids, women and men! To get started all you need is 7 fabrics and a background!
This pattern includes 4 different sizes: Trenta 63” x 84”, Venti 54” x 72”, Grande 45” x 60” and Tall 36” x 48”. Instead of making multiple sizes by adding and subtracting rows, we scaled the blocks! That means, no matter which size you make, you are making the same amount of blocks, they will just be a different sizes and you keep the fun design.
My Mom, Kristy of Wolf Creek Quilting, quilted this beauty! She quilted every other block with swirling pebbles or serpentine lines and carried the design out into the background. It really adds some extra pizazz =] We used a bike chain stripe fabric for the binding and it is the perfect finishing touch!
We had a fun time photographing this quilt. I was gifted the most perfect orange cruiser for Christmas and we couldn't resist using it as a prop!
