Mini Mondays - Mini Firelights Lane
This week in our Mini Monday Series is our Mini Firelights Lane pattern!
Mini Firelights Lane is the miniature version of our unique Firelights Lane quilt pattern. Both patterns will be 20% off today and tomorrow (1/12/18 - 1/13/18 PST). Now let's chat about Mini Firelights Lane!
How Mini Is This Mini?
We took the original Firelights Lane quilt pattern and downsized it to make a mini quilt that finishes 13.5” x 18”. This is the perfect size to play with the Triangle Squared ruler and get perfect little triangles. We do recommend using a little spray starch to keep them from getting a little warped while sewing!
Choosing Fabric
The Mini Firelights Lane pattern calls for 7 focus fabrics and one background. This is a fun pattern to create a rainbow, a color gradation, a light to dark gradation or to feature a line of fabric! Grab 7 fabrics and line up to see what order they look best in and then grab a background. Light, dark and medium backgrounds work great with this pattern, it just depends on your focus fabrics. So play around a little bit to find your perfect combination - there are endless possibilities!
Techniques & Skills
This mini is constructed just like it’s big buddy counterpart - with the Triangle Squared ruler! This is a super fast pattern to make and using the stacking and cutting technique makes it all the faster. As I said before, a little bit of starch goes a long way to keeping these little triangles straight and from getting a little wonky. The basic patchwork of this pattern makes it one of our easier and faster mini pattern!
Inspiration Gallery
Mini Firelights Lane is a fun pattern that can take on many different styles and attitudes! I originally designed this with planes flying in formation and the condensation trails following behind as inspiration. From there, it has become so much more!
The cover Mini Firelights Lane quilt is a version that gradates from lime to teal to blue! We paired the fun fabrics with a white on white background for a show-stopper.
This version is featuring a fun fabric line containing some of my favorite colors in small prints! The magenta, aqua, coral, navy and mustard prints look great on the light blue background.
This quilt is a little bit more subtle. We used all the same print in different colors and gradated from a very light blue to a navy. It gives the appearance of the blocks disappearing as they rise!
This version of the Mini Firelights Lane features 7 different focus prints all in the same color family, but arranged from lightest to darkest, creating a gorgeous magenta mini!
This last quilt features 7 assorted Alison Glass prints in varying colors arranged to create a spectrum from yellow to red. We paired these prints with a subtle lime on white background print for a stunning mini quilt!
