Introducing Jungle Junction

It has been a hot minute since we have launched a few new patterns at once, so we are pretty darn excited! We are kicking off our Fall 2021 Pattern Launch with our new JUNGLE JUNCTION pattern. This pattern features a motif I originally designed for my Pura Vida fabric line. I loved it so much I turned it into a quilt pattern! 

Jungle Junction Includes

• Three sizes - Tall Size 42in x 48in, Grande Size 56in x 72in and Venti Size 76in x 84in.
• Full-size foundations on letter and legal size paper ready to photocopy.
• Full-size appliqué leaves ready to be traced.
• Full-size templates for triangle pieces.
• Complete foundation paper-piecing and machine appliqué instructions.
• A coloring page so you can explore as many different ideas as possible!

Behind the Scenes

We toted this quilt all over town before we ended up a block away from the studio to photograph the cover image. We tried photos in front of a Sasquatch (very on brand for us!), at a trail head and even in a parking garage! We finally found the perfect tall hedge and voila!

The Cover Quilt

If you have been following us a little while now, you know we have an affinity for planned scrappy quilts and this quilt is a prime example. We pulled assorted green fabric scraps ranging from lime to teal for the colors and low volumes for the background. We made two foundations in matching green fabrics with assorted low volume backgrounds and laid them out so they gradated diagonally across the quilt from lime to teal.

We then made the appliquéd leaves in 5 different green Foundation fabrics. We arranged them across the quilt in color order and then had Kristy work her quilting magic. She saw hexagons when she looked at the quilt and decided to quilt them with a spiraling circle. She then filled in the leaves with bubbles and the excess background with serpentining lines and continuous scrolls. 

Pura Vida Quilt

We can never just make one quilt, so here is the second version we made! We made this one with Pura Vida batiks and love it! We teased a mockup of this one months ago in the Pura Vida Lookbook and seeing it come to life was amazing. We used all the colorful fabrics from the line as the colors and the assorted dark fabrics for the background. We arranged the colors in rainbow order around the quilt and let them pop on the dark backgrounds.

We chose the grey print from the Pura Vida line for the appliqué leaves. Kristy quilted the leaves to life by quilting veins through them and filled in the rest of the quilt with an allover scroll pattern.

My sister has also been making a version of Jungle Junction that we will share with you all when it is done!
