Mini Mondays - Mini Piccadilly Circle

This week in our Mini Monday Series is our Mini Piccadilly Circle pattern!

Mini Piccadilly Circle is the miniature version of our fun Piccadilly Circle quilt pattern. Both patterns will be 20% off today and tomorrow (3/26/18 - 3/27/18 PST). Now let's chat about Mini Piccadilly Circle

How Mini Is This Mini?

The Mini Piccadilly Circle finishes 14 inches wide by 14 inches tall. We kept the original size of the Piccadilly Circle block but added a few more pieces to the paper-pieced circle part to make it a little more intricate.

Choosing Fabric

The Mini Piccadilly Circle is my favorite pattern to create color wheels! I love to grab 40 colors that cover the spectrum and paper-piece them in order to create a rainbow of fabric around the circle. We’ve made these with prints, solids and lines of fabrics! You can make yours scrappy, feature a fabric line or show off all the amazing scraps you have in your favorite color way.

Techniques & Skills

This mini is a great skill builder because it has a little bit of everything! There is some simple foundation paper-piecing, some easy curve sewing, a bit of straightforward appliqué and of course, patchwork!

Inspiration Gallery

I know I say this a lot, but Mini Piccadilly Circle is one of our favorites to make! It can take on so many different looks and styles, feature fussy-cutting and play with the color wheel.

Our cover Mini Piccadilly Circle is a rainbow (go figure huh?!) and was made from my scrap bin with assorted tonal prints. We fussy-cut a black and white lion for the center and bound it in a black and white stripe!

This next mini quilt features Alison Glass’s Handcrafted Indigo collection. We arranged the prints in each quadrant to variegate from navy to true blue to teal. We used assorted black and white prints in the background.

This Mini Piccadilly Circle was made with 20 different solid fabrics to create a spectrum that repeats itself on the top and bottom of the circle. We used a white background, navy center and dark purple binding.

And last but not least is this fun version made with assorted green fabric scraps! Each green print leads the eye into the center where we feature a fussy-cut frog. The background is a solid white and allows the greens to pop!
