Say Cheese! + Giveaway

Here is the second quilt we had featured in the Quilts from Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Fall 2014 issue. Today, I am going to share the quilt I designed for the issue, Say Cheese! I used my most recent 12" appliqué block, Aperature, and built the camera around it! Here is the original block:

Using basic piecing and a few curves, I created a camera shape background for a large appliqué aperture to be sewn on to. I added some white space and large flying geese to the top and bottom to the make the quilt a square wall-hanging.

I love making lap size quilts. They go together faster and they are easier for me to quilt on my machine.

Love your quilt block. So cute.

My favorite size for now is a lap quilt, although I seem to be stuck on baby quilts lately.

I started out making wall-size quilts. As my skills progressed, I turned to larger formats (had to throw in that photography term) and blanketed everyone I knew! Now, I’m back to wall quilts, which make great gifts.

Seems my favorite size is queen or larger. I’ve just got to start making smaller projects! Being the lucky winner of this giveaway would surely give me lots of inspiration and ideas. Thanks for the chance! ☺

I like making smaller items such as lap or crib size quilts. They are more portable as I do a lot of hand sewing in my recliner due to a back injury over 18 years ago.
Your camera really caught my eye as when I was younger I did a lot of photography in High School and college. And I was accepted into the Navy’s school of photography. However, I never followed through with my enlistment, went to college instead.

Oh! I LOVE this pattern! I worked for almost thirty years as a photographer and I am just going to HAVE to make this one! It is calling out my name! My favorite size is lap quilt size – to snuggle and cuddle the grandchildren in ;-)

My favorite size is larger than a lap, but not necessarily twin size. I like to wrap all of me in a quilt, and I am short, but lap’s seem to still be too small to snuggle under.

I like making bed size quilts for my family. I just finished a QOV for my father just in time before he recently passed. Next going to make one also for my brother a Vietnam veteran. As I think they all deserve one and have given more than anyone could possibly understand for our freedom. So many quilts, and so little time and material!

Twin and smaller, easier to quilt with my home machine. The one queen size top I made is still only a top until I can get it to a longarm quilter. Really like your camera quilt! Thanks for the giveaway!
